Belana was born Christmas Day, 1996, little did I know that she would be one of the best Christmas presents I would ever receive!!

Michelle Bradshaw was Belana’s breeder, she had bred to Coach & was keeping 2 Black & White puppies. Michelle came over to the states for me to see the puppies and we ALL liked this Liver bitch with missing nose trim. I told Michelle, she is a keeper if that nose finishes……well, you guessed it! Michelle told me I could keep her as long as I put her kennel name on the puppy. I was a big fan of Star Trek and every time I looked at that Liver puppy…..I thought she looks like that Klington on Star Trek. That is where her name comes from.

Belana started her show career by going Winners Bitch at the Central Ohio show in Columbus show for a 3 pt major from the 6-9 month puppy class!! After taking some time off to grow up, we entered Belana at the Detroit Specialty show, where she went Reserve Winners Bitch. Suzy Hughes saw her there and fell in love with her. We talked that day and the next day and decided Suzy would become Belana’s co-owner! Suzy decided to take Belana home from there & we were to meet up at DCA 4 weeks later. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I could not go to that years DCA. I was devastated. Suzy did a wonderful job of showing Belana. Belana & Suzy went Winners Bitch at the DCA Specialty 1998!!! What a thrill!! Belana finished two weeks later at the Greater Washington Specialty under noted judge, Judy English Murray. Belana made one appearance at DCA 1999 as a special where she garnered an AWARD OF MERIT under Mr. Robert Rivard.

Belana produced a total of 6 Champions. Her son Bret finished out of the Puppy class with a Specialty Winner’s dog & a Best of Breed and Group 4 over specials. Her Daughter Becka has 2 Specialty Winners Bitch to her credit. Sister, Ivy finished with back to back 4 pt majors out of the puppy class.

Belana last appearance at DCA was in the veterans class where she won her class! Belana and I would like to thank Dr. Suzanne Hughes for all she has done for us. These two are both Special ladies!!
